Storbritanniens bästa öl

Just nu pågår Great British Beer Festival, en ölfestival anordnad av brittiska organisationen Campaign for Real Ale och utan tvekan en av de största i Europa.

För någon dag sedan utsågs den bästa ölen på festivalen och första platsen gick till No.9 Barley Wine från bryggeriet Coniston.

Enligt juryn på festivalen så är ölen en fantastisk skapelse ”‘having fantastic finesse, reminiscent of a fine cognac.’”.

Belfast Telegraph skriver om ölen: ” Coniston is a microbrewery set up in 1995 behind the Black Bull Inn in Coniston, with six beers in regular production. Around 1,600 gallons are made every week for distribution to 100 customer outlets.”

Och att festivalen är lite speciell kan uttryckas på många sätt, kolla bara vad ölbloggaren Darren Packman skriver om festivalen – hans åttonde:

”But spend 10 minutes strolling around the GBBF and it’s as though the craft beer revolution never happened. Here you can see a marching band led by a square-jawed guy dressed as a woman drinking beer from a pewter tankard, a hobgoblin and a scarecrow circling the hall and the ‘Crafty Cockney’ Eric Bristow giving darts demonstrations to the booming chants of “one-hundred-and-eighhhhhhhhhtttyyy!””
